The CooperBuild connector lets Muse read and update the CooperBuild workspace you sign in to. You can ask about projects, RFIs, submittals, estimates, procurement and accounting in plain language, and Muse works with the same records and the same permissions you have in the CooperBuild web and mobile apps.
1. Overview
CooperBuild is a construction management platform for general contractors and specialty trades. The connector is a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server run by COOPERBUILD, INC. at https://api.cooperbuild.ai/mcp/directory, over Streamable HTTP.
Muse is a product of Meta. CooperBuild is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta.
2. Requirements
- A CooperBuild account. You sign in with the same email and password you use at app.cooperbuild.ai. If your company does not use CooperBuild yet, book a demo.
- Muse with connectors.CooperBuild is added from Muse's connector settings.
3. Connect CooperBuild to Muse
- In Muse, open Settings → Connectors, find CooperBuild and tap Connect, then Continue. You can also ask Muse to “connect CooperBuild”.
- A CooperBuild sign-in page opens.
- Sign in if asked, check that the page names the app you are connecting, then click Authorize. You are returned to Muse.
Only authorize a request you started yourself. If a CooperBuild sign-in page appears that you did not expect, click Deny.
4. Use it in Muse
Once connected, ask about your work, for example:
- “Show me my active projects in CooperBuild.”
- “Which RFIs on the Riverside project are still open, and who owns them?”
- “Summarize the submittals waiting on architect review.”
- “What is the budget versus actual cost on the Main Street job?”
- “Create a task to confirm the rebar delivery for Friday.”
5. What the connector can do
- Projects — search projects, review tasks and schedules, create and update tasks, and check site weather and daily progress reports.
- Drawings and documents — search drawings and specifications, compare sheet revisions, and manage RFIs and submittals with their review status and revision history.
- Preconstruction — browse and edit estimates and line items, run quantity takeoffs from plan sets, and prepare proposals.
- Procurement — create resource requests, request and compare vendor quotes, and track shipments and inventory.
- Accounting — view project finances, budgets and reports; process vendor invoices, payment applications and client billing; record payments made outside CooperBuild. No tool moves money.
- People and time — timesheets, payroll, recruiting and subcontractor compliance documents.
- CRM and communications— look up contacts and companies, see a person's activity timeline and open action items, and send email and SMS from your connected accounts.
- AI phone calls and meetings — ask a Cooper AI agent to call someone, leave a voicemail or join a meeting for you. The agent introduces itself as an AI assistant calling on your behalf, and meeting invitations say when an AI agent will attend.
- Your Cooper agents — hand a request to one of the AI agents your company has set up in CooperBuild, by name, and get its answer back. You see the request and the agent first, and the agent starts only after you confirm.
- Memory — CooperBuild can remember durable facts and preferences about you, such as your role and how you like emails written, so it does not have to ask again. You can view, edit and delete them in CooperBuild under Settings → Cooper AI Profile.
6. Approvals and read-only use
Each of the connector's 377 tools is classified in section 7 as one of three kinds, which Muse uses to decide when to ask for your approval:
- Read (159 tools) — looks up and returns data. It does not change your records.
- Write (170 tools) — creates, changes or archives records in your CooperBuild workspace.
- Sensitive write (48 tools) — sends something, shares or publishes something, records a payment, or starts a Cooper agent or automation. Muse asks for your approval on every use.
A tool that both reads and writes is classified as a write. To use CooperBuild without changing anything, choose the read-only option when you connect it in Muse, where it is offered: the Read tools are the ones that only retrieve data.
7. Every tool and what it changes
This list covers every tool the connector offers at https://api.cooperbuild.ai/mcp/directory. Which ones a person can actually use depends on their CooperBuild role (see section 9).
Sensitive writes
“Preview first” means the first call shows exactly what would be sent or recorded and changes nothing, and only a second, confirmed call acts.
Sends a message, email, call or invitation
These reach people, inside or outside your company, as you or as your company.

Starts a Cooper agent or automation
These hand work to an agent or automation that runs inside CooperBuild with your permissions. You approve starting it; the steps it then takes are not approved one by one in Muse.
| Tool | What happens | Preview first |
|---|---|---|
talk_to_agent | Hands your request to one of your company's Cooper agents, which can then take further actions with your permissions. | Yes |
start_orchestration | Starts a background Cooper agent run with your permissions. It can create, change and send things. | No |
create_orchestration_trigger | Schedules a Cooper agent to run later, on a timer or when an event happens, with your permissions. | Yes |
update_orchestration_trigger | Changes when or how a scheduled Cooper agent runs. | Yes |
automation_control | Turns automations on, runs or resumes them. An automation that is on sends messages and changes records by itself. | No |
automation | Creates, changes and turns on rules in CooperBuild's older automation engine. | No |
Writes
These create, change or archive records in your workspace. They run through the same code as the CooperBuild app, so a change has the same effects as making it yourself there, including any notification your workspace sends for that kind of change (for example, telling someone a task was assigned to them).

8. How calls behave
Results and status
A successful call returns the records it read, or the record it created or changed with that record's status, such as draft, sent, approved, paid or voided. A preview describes what would happen and changes nothing. Texts and emails are delivered after the call returns, so the status at send time can change: comm_sms_statusreturns a text's current delivery status.
Retrying
If a call times out, check the record with the matching browse or list tool before trying again. A send or payment record that timed out on your side may have completed.
Errors
A failed call returns a result marked as an error, with a short code and a plain-language message: for example, a permission your role does not have, a missing or invalid field, or a record that does not exist. A call refused for permissions or invalid input changes nothing.
Rate limits
Each connection can make 120 requests a minute, with a burst of up to 40 more. Responses carry X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers. Over the limit, the server returns HTTP 429 with a JSON-RPC error and a Retry-After header. A wider limit also applies to each network address.
Money
No CooperBuild tool transfers money, pays out or charges a card. Payment tools record payments made outside CooperBuild.
9. Sign-in and permissions
- OAuth with PKCE.Muse never sees your CooperBuild password. You sign in on CooperBuild's own page and approve access there.
- Your role applies. The connector acts as you. It can only see and change what your CooperBuild role allows, and a request outside your permissions is refused with a “permission denied” message.
- Your company's workspace. Requests run in the CooperBuild workspace you signed in to.
- Sign-ins expire. Access tokens last one hour and renew automatically for up to 30 days. After that, or after you disconnect, Muse asks you to sign in again.
For integrators
- Authorization code flow with PKCE (
S256), for public clients: no client secret. - Authorization server metadata:
https://api.cooperbuild.ai/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server - Protected resource metadata:
https://api.cooperbuild.ai/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp/directory - Dynamic client registration:
https://api.cooperbuild.ai/oauth/register - Scope:
mcp:tools
10. Your data
When you ask Muse a question, the connector returns the CooperBuild records needed to answer it, such as project details, documents, contacts or financial figures. Those results become part of your Muse conversation and are handled by Meta under its own terms and privacy policy.
CooperBuild stores and processes your workspace data as described in our Privacy Policy, including how AI models use your data: your business data is never used to train a public model. Use of the connector is covered by our Terms of Service.
Some requests are carried out inside CooperBuild by its own AI features: reading an uploaded payroll report, résumé, receipt or invoice, running one of your Cooper agents, or placing an AI phone call. For those, CooperBuild sends the content needed to the AI providers named in the Privacy Policy (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, and Amazon Textract, plus speech providers for calls and meetings).
11. Disconnect
- In Muse, open Settings → Connectors, select CooperBuild and disconnect it. Muse stops using CooperBuild.
- If you created a client ID and secret for an AI app on the Connect AI page in CooperBuild, revoke them there as well. Revoked credentials stop working immediately.
- To have us end every active connector sign-in for your account, email hello@cooperbuild.ai.
12. Troubleshooting
The sign-in page closes or never opens
Allow pop-ups for cooperbuild.ai, then try again. In Safari, turn off “Prevent cross-site tracking” while you connect.
It worked before, but now asks me to sign in
Sign-ins renew for up to 30 days, and revoked credentials stop working straight away. Disconnect CooperBuild in Muse and connect it again.
A request fails with “permission denied”
The connector follows the same role checks as CooperBuild itself. Ask a workspace admin for access to that part of CooperBuild.
Muse does not use CooperBuild
Name it in your request, for example “In CooperBuild, show me my open RFIs.”
13. Support
Questions, problems, or a request to review the connector's access for your organization? Email hello@cooperbuild.ai or call +1 (917) 531-4445. You can also reach us through our contact page.
